Braun Leeonie. Coffee Table. November 23rd , 2017.
The coffee table has become customary in our living rooms, and, although we all have one in our home, few know that coffee tables, as the Ottoman Empire, originate in Turkey. If Ottoman largely retained its form, then the coffee table has evolved over time. It nearly became a completely different piece of furniture. Today, a coffee table is no longer subject to strict utility and it has become almost an art piece, which is often the focal point of the room. The coffee table was neglected in favor of sofas, armchairs and chairs for a long time. But right now, all professional designers acknowledge their importance. They‘ve got reasons: a coffee table is more versatile and easier to combine than any other piece of furniture from the living room. Basically, it sets the tone for the room. If you prefer to draw attention to the couch, then you would choose a simple but appropriate table. However, coffee table styles and colours should follow the ambiance of the entire room.
Naturally, the first criteria for choosing coffee tables should be the overall decor of the room. Decors can be broadly classified as Classical, Chic, Retro, Modern etc. A classic decor will probably be Victorian era heavy and ornate furniture, lots of wood and lots of pink cloth. An ornate, curved leg dark wood coffee table will be perfect in that setting. Totally opposite to classic, we have modern, which is lighter furniture, white wood or steel and glass pieces.
For this project you are going to begin with a glass coffee table. When we say a glass coffee table, we mean one in which to top is made of glass. The rest of the table can be made out of any material. There are a couple options when it comes to adding an artistic touch to a glass coffee table. The first option is to find a glass coffee table with a secondary level underneath. What this means is that there is a box the same size as the type of the table just underneath it. You can take the glass off, put any artistic creations you can think that in this box then put the glass back down. It‘s almost like having a shadow box combined with a glass coffee table.
You can find coffee tables that offer extra seating in your room as well. Some of these include comfy seats that store under the table when they are not in use. Other coffee tables double as ottomans or sometimes, large ottomans can become coffee tables with just the addition of an attractive tray.
