Farber Angelyika. Coffee Table. November 22nd , 2017.
Many people suggest that in households with small children even a tempered glass coffee table is unsuitable as the possibility of it shattering is just too great. Of course, it is up to individual parents to make their own choices in this matter, but it is always best to err on the side of caution where safety is at stake. For parents who consider a glass coffee table an absolute necessity the option of safety films should also be looked into.
Coffee tables add pizazz to your decor by making a room feel complete. When you add these tables to your living room or family room, you can create a distinct coziness to your seating areas. Some living or family rooms can be overwhelming in size. By adding a couple coffee tables near a sofa or a chair combination, they create mini seating areas which, in turn, foster a more comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Coffee tables are also known as accent tables because they can accentuate a room‘s decor. If the living room‘s theme is, for example, wild flowers, accent tables can hold some well placed vases full of fresh cut or dried wild flowers. They can also display home decor and art pieces that are part of the wild flower theme. In this way, these accent tables pull a room together - decor-wise.
Wooden Coffee Tables: Wooden coffee tables have less safety problems as a rule than glass ones; however there are still hazards that can exist. One of the particular dangers commonly encountered is the problem of small children learning to walk who injure themselves on sharp corners. Many baby and parenting shops and even IKEA now sell corner bumpers; small rounded foam or plastic caps that help to prevent injury. Whilst these are not too attractive to look at they are a great way to prevent accidents and only need to be used for a relatively small time whilst your child is in their toddler phase. Similarly there are now "bumpers" available that can be run along the edges of any wooden coffee table. These are heavily padded lengths of material that fix to the surface to prevent injury. They can later be removed when no longer needed.
There are few things to think of before you get this project under way however. One is that you are going to be putting coffee on this table. Coffee is hot. That means you need to make sure that what ever you‘re doing can stand up to the impact of a hot cup of coffee or that you take some sort of steps to protect the table surface. This could be as simple as making sure there are saucers or coasters to put a hot cup on. Another thing to think of is whether or not your artwork can be damaged. The best way to deal with this is to make sure the artwork is on the underside of the glass. That way, people pushing things around on the surface, like coffee cups, won‘t hurt your art in any way.
