Drechsler Kathariena. Coffee Table. November 17th , 2017.
Today, as has always been the case with this very traditional and ubiquitous piece of furniture, the classic but modern coffee table is a place where friends and family gather. However, modern coffee tables are still necessary but just not in the morning as was traditionally the case in generations past. Mornings are typically reserved for either catching up on much-needed sleep or simply getting ready to start the day. There is precious little need for the formality of sitting down in front of the sofa and drinking coffee when there is barely time to make a cup to go.
No law says that the coffee table has to be in one piece! You can purchase a table that‘s actually a few small tables that fit into each other when not in use or are separate tables that can be placed around the living room; these types of tables are called a nest of tables and provide an alternative to having one big table in the middle of the room. The nest of tables is perfect for homes with a small living room.
The material also has its importance. Glass tables are very beautiful and fit in most rooms, but are more difficult to maintain, and if there are young children in the house, they are not the ideal as accidents can occur. White is a very beautiful colour, but again, it is difficult to maintain. Even a single cup placed directly on the table, it can leave marks. Do not be afraid of colour. A mass of orange, green or red will be a splash of colour and will cheer you up every morning. Usual height of coffee tables is normally between 40 and 45 inches. If you often have guests, a higher one might be more suited, because everyone will be able to reach their cup. A rule of interior design says that the height of the coffee table should be about the same height (or not less than five inches lower than) the couch. Ideal length is two thirds of the couch. However, no rule is set in stone. Depending on your tastes and the rest of the room, you can choose what ever size and colour coffee table you wish.
Are you the artistic type? If so you may like the rooms in your home to also represent your artistic side. One great way to do this is with a glass coffee table in the living room. Think about what goes together better than art and coffee? Many a coffee house is filled with artistic designs and creations. As a matter of fact many coffee houses create their whole environment around this connection. Additionally, many artists spend their time at coffee houses coming up with inspiration. If these two things are connected in the regular world, why shouldn‘t these two things be connected in your home? Now they can.
